Darrell Contreras Esq., LHRM, CHC, CHRC, CHPC is a licensed attorney who has worked for over 15 years in health care compliance and regulatory interpretation. As a partner in JD HealthCare Partners, LLC, He relies on a collaborative approach, working with his clients to meld the legal and regulatory requirements into practice operations. He works on behalf of his clients to work with the regulatory agencies to get the answers his clients need in order to comply. He served for seven years as the Chief Compliance Officer for two large, acute care hospitals. During this time, He was responsible for the organizations’ compliance and privacy programs, research compliance, internal audit and risk management. Darrell has also completed training as a Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt. Prior to becoming a compliance officer, Darrell was a consultant for Ernst & Young where he assisted healthcare organizations with developing, implementing and assessing compliance programs.
An accomplished speaker, Darrell has spoken on pain management, compliance and privacy related topics to several local, regional, and national professional organizations. Darrell has been published in health care compliance journals for topics related to compliance and privacy and assisted with the development and drafting of the national, Health Care Privacy Compliance certification exam through the Health Care Certification Board. Darrell is also an active faculty member for the Health Care Compliance Association’s Compliance and Privacy Academies.
Darrell holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California and is an active member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona. Darrell is also Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC), and Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) through the Healthcare Compliance Certification Board. Darrell completed his risk manager certification course through the University of Florida and is licensed by the State of Florida as a Healthcare Risk Manager.
