Arthur S. Shorr is President and Founder of Arthur S. Shorr & Associates Inc.; a management consulting firm specializing in providing operational consulting, business, and strategic planning services to Hospitals, Medical Groups and Physicians. Mr. Shorr also serves as an Expert Witness in matters of Corporate Negligence and Institutional liability involving hospitals, nursing homes, and licensed healthcare facilities.
Mr. Shorr holds an MBA in Health Care Administration from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. He is Board Certified in Healthcare Administration, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mr. Shorr has been active professionally in the healthcare field for over 45 +years on a full-time basis. He has held senior executive positions in major Medical Centers including Senior Vice-President of Administration and Chief Operating Officer Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, Administrator, Chief Operating Officer, and Acting Interim President and Chief Executive Officer at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was he began his career at Hutzel Hospital, a 400-bed teaching hospital component of The Detroit Medical Center.
Mr. Shorr has served on numerous healthcare governing boards, and currently is a Trustee and Board member of The American Hospital Management Corporation and Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata, California.
He is the author of numerous peer reviewed articles, is a frequent national lecturer on Health Care Policy, Contemporary Issues in Healthcare Administration, and Hospital Corporate Negligence. At the commission of Westlaw Thomson Reuters, Mr. Shorr or third a textbook entitled: “Hospital Corporate Negligence, Legal & Administrative Issues; Westlaw Thomson-Reuters October 2009.
He is a recurring speaker for national educational seminars sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Trial Advocacy College, and the American Association for Justice. He has also consulted and lectured internationally in South Africa, Australia, Canada, China & Israel. He was appointed to the faculties of Wayne State University. The University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development. His current academic appointment is Executive in Residence & Senior Professorial Lecturer at The George Washington University School of Public Health & Health Services.
