Overview:
HIPAA has undergone rule changes and increased enforcement, but many Business Associates (BA) and their Subcontractors, are unaware of and not in compliance with the vastly increased HIPAA privacy and security rules required for compliance. The marketplace is adapting to these rule changes by Covered Entities (CE) requiring their BAs to provide proof that they are compliant. This presentation will educate the attendees, from both Business Associates and the Covered Entities perspectives on the requirements of HIPAA and what documentation must be in place to comfortably enter Business Associate Agreements (BAA).
Why should you attend: HIPAA and other forms of privacy and security investigations, enforcement and audits are at an all-time high. So are the requirements that BAs provide documentation that their compliance programs meet the HIPAA requirements.
Being proactive by having a robust privacy and security compliance program will reduce risks of not being able to pursue healthcare related opportunities, but also will reduce the penalties, lawsuits and other unwanted effects from violations of privacy and security of the protected health information that a BA manages for a CE. This presentation thoroughly defines areas of risk for privacy, security and breach and offers recommendations for how to best address them in order to reduce the liabilities.
