Overview:
HHS has proposed extensive changes to the HIPAA Security Rule, impacting HIPAA-regulated entities of all sizes in response to the significant increase in cyberattacks in the healthcare sector.
There is widespread political support for strengthening health information cybersecurity. However, the proposed new Security Rule quickly drew criticism that it is unrealistic, overly burdensome and too expensive.
The proposed modifications, developed during the Biden administration, will be processed and finalized under the Trump administration. New leadership at HHS and OCR may look favorably on industry comments urging reductions in proposed Security Rule safeguards. However, because of the demand, the Security Rule will almost certainly be modified during the Trump administration.
This webinar explains proposed Security Rule modifications, what to expect and how covered entities and business associates can get ready to comply.
